Post Chinese visa crackdown during the olympics
As many of you have heard/experienced, there has been a big crackdown in Beijing on the issuing of visas. The flexible F business visa that was widely used by ESL teachers is no longer (very difficult to get anyway)..
Teaching in Shenzhen, just 10 minutes away from the border of China and HK is not too big a problem for me, although have had many ESL teacher friends and students affected.

If anyone wants to share any tips etc, please do in this thread.

Any teachers coming from overseas to teach in China, make sure your school is planning on getting you the proper Z visa, and that everything is arranged before you get here to save troubles.

A useful page on the new Chinese visa here

Chinese visas were supposed to revert back to normal on the 19th of October. Last time i was in HK they said this should be earlier and they maybe available from the start of October.

Anyone know if the visa conditions - time restraints has been laxed at all yet.

Thanks. 8)

Just back from HK and we were told there is still no change in the visa situation :( , and they did not know when things would revert back to pre-olympics.

Have found an agent that purports to be able to get 6 months mutli entry visas, will post their info up later.
