I'm an undergrad at an American University studying education and mathematics. I am living in Chiang Mai, and I've heard that although Uni's and more prestigious schools hire only credentialed individuals, that there are other smaller schools that will hire clean, sharp, professional, and serious individuals. Can you tell me the names of which schools will hire, and, where they are if you can?
I don't mind pounding the pavement, but, from the way it sounds the ones most likely to hire me, are the ones I'm mostly likely to pass by and not even see to apply at.

Strictly speaking if you want a job in Thailand as an english teacher you need to be qualified, but also they are desperate for teachers, so you can get around this.
The work that you are likely to get, and I assume you are looking for summer work, is going to part-time and training centres and private schools. What you are really looking for is summer school work.
Umm....pounding the pavement is really the only way to do this. Check out expat bars and cafes, look at the notice boards and put up your own notices.
Go to websites such as
www.tefl.com
www.tesall.com
totalesl.com
among many other websites.
Also try some of the International schools, maybe they need a substitute teacher for a few hours a week.

I told you before about a job in Ranong but I guess you aren't interested. Your not a qualified teacher so you best bet is a high school in a rural area. you need to go to these schools and ask for the english department.
